Mission Bay

The world’s largest human-made water sports park is nestled here in the heart of San Diego and you may know it by Mission Bay! In San Diego, this is the most popular spot for water sports, and you can enjoy everything from hot tub cruising, kayaking, paddle boarding to jet skiing and more. Here are a few things you can do in this fantastic water park both on land and water.

SeaWorld:

Among the most popular San Diego attractions is Sea World! And you can find it at the shores of Mission Bay. SeaWorld is known by many animal exhibits, educational and interactive programs, roller coasters, and so much more. But what has made SeaWorld a world-famous aquatic park is the entertaining marine animal shows. You can get through the park in half a day, but to maximize the experience, we recommend to plan for a full day so you can enjoy multiple shows and rides.

Ski Beach: waterski, Jet Ski, and Picnic

Ski Beach is located on Vacation Isle in Mission Bay right across from Fisherman’s Channel in Crown Point. It is a popular hub for water-skiers and jet-skiers, so it is no mystery how the beach got its name.

With a boat launch, a sandy beach, an expansive grassy area, and a large parking lot, this park is popular with both locals and tourists alike. It has it all: a walking path, a kid’s playground, picnic tables, fire pits, and restrooms. Not too far off, on the other side of the island at Vacation Isle park, you can indulge in some eye candy at the model yacht pond.

Do not miss the California Gray Whale Migration

It is a seasonal delight to watch how California gray whales migrate from the Bering Sea to Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, giving us the privilege of being on their passageway. You can indulge in this beautiful migration if you are visiting San Diego from January to March, so be sure to take a whale watching tour.

A good option for whale watching will be Seaforth Sportfishing, which is located in Mission Bay’s Quivira Basin. With over 35 years of experience hosting whale-watching, they know the perfect viewing points. It is composed of narrated tours by experienced captain or crew.

If surfing the waves is just not enough, venture out to Mission Bay and experience all the water sports and tours available for you to enjoy only a few minutes away from Pacific View Inn.
